OGC Inaugural Pajama Party in D.C.??

Dear sistahs and friends,
I hope your holidays were wonderful and may your 2009 be happy, happy, happy!!

Here's a thought. You can have an OGC pajama party for the inauguration at
my place in DC. No, this is not an OGC function, but it could be for the right price. I'm
offering my house for 3-5 day rental for folks going to DC during the inauguration
week and I had the thought that some of you girls might be interested.
PLEASE READ ON FOR DETAILS.

All hotels in the Washington, DC area are sold out for the inauguration, but
there is still hope. YOU CAN STAY AT MY PLACE!! I just renovated my
3-bedroom, 2-bath rental property (single family home) in Washington, D.C.
Since I haven't advertised it yet for a long term rental it is available and can
sleep from 6-8, maybe 10 if the last two people bring an air mattress. Deadline
for reservations is this Thursday, Jan. 8th. Please see my ad and pics on
Craigslist at the url below. Please note that it is listed on the Chicago
Craigslist for today and tomorrow. Then, I will shift it to the WashingtonDC
Craigslist for Wednesday and Thursday.

If this url doesn't get you there, do a search and insert these
keywords...inauguration, 3BR, Location:
Capital Hill extended, and pictures.

If you are seriously considering and have any questions, don't hesitate to send
me a message either at cocojazz@comcast.net or through the Craigs List email
option. FEEL FREE TO TELL ANYONE LOOKING FOR SPACE!

Hello, from Grenada!

Hi All!
I've finally made my way down to Grenada, and thought you might be interested in reading my journals of the move! There was so much to do in getting ready for this... I didn't have time to keep up with everyone.

I've been here for about 3 weeks now and we're just beginning to find our new "normal" daily life. There is plenty to keep us busy, but the first thing we MUST do is get the screens fixed... windows & doors! The mosquitoes this time of year are terrible! But the beautiful breeze through the house is heavenly! Although we're currently in the rainy season, we've had a stretch of 3 beautiful sunny days... with just a short shower passing through here & there.

I'm working on picking paint colors for the interior walls & looking for fabric for curtains. (I brought my sewing machine with me!) I've ventured into the city by myself, which includes driving our Suzuki... on the LEFT side of the road! And yesterday I bravely set out to get my hair cut at a local salon (see above photo from my webcam). Monday & Tuesday is Carnival in Grenada, so all the businesses will be closed. I'm planning to head out with my camera to see if I can get some great shots!

If you want to read more about my "adventures", you can check out my blog: http://coopersingrenada.blogspot.com/... feel free to keep in touch with me there!

(Pictured above.... Zena, who happens to be Suzanne's neighbor and a professional belly dancer- I have also worked an event with her!- Diane )

Thanks Suzanne for putting this together!!! Diane :)

Wine Society event in Harrisburg

Frances Teslar (seated far right and front), one of our OGC members, hosted a recent wine event held at Sasha's, near Harrisburg. The evening featured several wines, carefully "paired" with each stage of the delicious meal. Since the price of each wine is not disclosed during the tastings, it is always fun at the end of the evening to discover that quality and good taste can often be found at the most unexpected, low pricing, and can be purchased easily in local stores, not just tucked away in far off vineyards. As seen in the picture, some OGC'ers found their way to this enjoyable evening. A quality event, Frances!
